This weekend I am going to Firenze to hang out with Andrea Licavoli (old MSU friend) and then together we are going to Cinque Terre to return here Monday! I will post more next week. Ciao amici!

Lisa, you will love Florence! My favorite by far. We Went by city bus up to Fiesole (15 min.) where you can overlook all of Florence. Be prepared if you climb the interior steps to the top of the Duomo - 463. That's your workout for the day. Loved the open air shops, You must buy a purse!!! The most magnificant Madonna and Christ painting I saw was at the Pitti Palace. Raphael's "Tondo Madonna" (round madonna) looks like she could breathe and reach out and touch you. The history of it is interesting, too. Oh, you probably won't have time to get to the Uffizzi, Academy of the Arts, and Pitti Palace in just one weekend, and see all the incredible architecture and culture. Maybe you can work abother weekend trip in your time in Italy. Mary Ann

your pictures are great! i love hearing about your experience -- and i'm sure cinque terre will be a blast -- my regret from my italy trip was not making it there. can't wait to see more photos!

I wanted to apologize for our busyness and lack of availability right before you left. Life has been SOOOO crazy the last 2 and 1/2 weeks, but it is settling down. Wish we could have had lunch with you the last Sunday you were here. :(
